Indiana Jones parodies are ubiquitous in cartoons. They probably would have felt wrong not putting it in.

If she does read about Commander Hurricane, it would be pretty hilarious if he were nothing like how he is in the play.

Twi does know what Dashie likes, so she's prolly easing her into reading with some adventure stories :3

It'd be even better if some of the books feature g1 Mythology Gags.

Does it even matter if they used Indiana Jones?

Most books have famous movie adaptations nowadays, and most movies have novelisations. When it comes to influencing kids, it's not gonna have much of an effect. (imo)

I guess it's the principle of the thing to some people.

[up] You ignored me earlier on. Twi gives Spike a book for his BD EVERY year (books he apparently doesn't enjoy given his reaction). How do you know she knows what Dash likes?

books are what Twilight has and what she knows.

If anything, she'd know what a person's genre would be. Spike's just annoyed by getting one every year.

It matters if they're trying to show how awesome books are. Small Reference Pools for me.

Then maybe she gets lucky in one of the books she offers :V

Also, Spike doesn't mind reading, but his literature preferences lie in areas Twi doesn't like as much.

[up][up][up][up]If the plot demands it she will know what Dash like.

Though what I expect is for her to just gather up a bunch of random books and drop them off at the hospital.

[up][up] That's what I'm gettin at.

Wait, Why wouldn't Twi enjoy adventure books?

[up] I hope that's what she does [lol]

Maybe Twi just grabs books from several genres or something when she brings Dashie some reading material.

Do you think Twi reads a bit of everything?

[up][up][up][up]She seems to be the kind of Pony who reads textbooks, and philosophy tracts for fun. She may not read all that much fiction.

Huh, like Progress!Luna loves texts on Equestrian law and mathematics?

I'm picturing Twi writing up a paper on the conversion of Python or Perl into Unicorn Magic script after she gets her hands on some human programming textbooks.

Actually, what if Dash complains about being bored in hospital, then Twi ethusiastically runs back to the library to pack up books to bring to her.

She packs a load of books that RD would invariably find boring. Spike notices and tries to call Twi out on it but she's not listening. He sighs, then throws in one of his favourite books when Twi's not looking. [lol]

RD ends up reading the book Spike packed, and from there moves on to Twilight's stuff. waii

If I had to hazard a guess, a unicorn magic script would more closely resemble assembly language.

Biological assembly language?

My ideal for magic programming language would be a flexible XML-based script, something that can be read by conventional electronics so you can digitize your spells and cheatyface with the Internet to deliver MoIP attacks (Magic over Internet Protocol). They don't have anything like it in Equestria short of doing really complex maths to bounce spells off well-placed gemstones in a massive long-range trickshot casting, but if you could do that on our world, you could remotely cast spells over the internet through cable, satellite, and 3G connections.

The best application of this trick would be to throw literal fireballs at trolls by doxing them and sending them their just punishment through their computers after tracing them.

[up][up][up]I do honestly hope that we see RD enjoying a variety of books, even if they are all fiction.

I wonder how she will be "outed" so to speak? I'm personally hoping that Twilight offhandedly insults one of Dash's favorite characters, to which Dash responds with a tirade about how awesome they are. She realizes what she just did a bit to late.

[down]Oh no doubt. I just hope that is not the only thing she reads.

I certainly hope there's a transitional period when it comes to Dash's interest in reading. It bugs me in real life when reading enthisiasts always recommend doorstoppers to people who are trying to get into reading (people like me)

[up] I never said she wouldn't, I just think she should get into reading through something she already enjoys
