Still catching up but on the Gilda vs Trixie argument, I'm putting my vote in for Trixie. She's just such a Large Ham that you can't help but love her.

And yeah, in all seriousness, the vast majority of the morals actually do line up with standard (read: not the crazy ones) Christian values. I mean, the Elements of Harmony actually line up with the Fruits of the Holy Spirit

pretty well.

I mean:

Love = Friendship (magic)

joy = laughter

faithfulness = loyalty

kindness = kindness (duh)

Honesty and Generosity don't have a one-to-one correlation there, but those are definitely traditional Christian virtues.

Okay, I'm going to stop with the religion stuff now. Just thought it was interesting to note.

For this episode, Applejack and Rarity do not really appear to be opposite sides of the cleanliness/dirty spectrum. What's that trope called again? I know it happened in Avatar.

Still, while that's what they seem to think, Applejack seems to be insisting on efficiency during work and Rarity on courtesy and appearances.

Twilight is oddly oblivious this episode.

Applejack and Rarity are both getting things done; it's just a question of focused, but very slow detail work versus fast, effective and sloppy big-picture work. I actually like how it's not as clear-cut as clean versus dirty, really.

I remeber that episode Twilight was completely unaware of the fight. I think her inexperience woth friendship had something to do with that.

Also, Lesson Zero is one of the best episodes, in my opinion. As somebody who's a grad student, I found Twilight's breakdown perfectly believable; if I had magic powers I'd probably have done that several times in college.

EDIT: Getting rid of the image now because it's redundant.
