My theory? Derpy is transgendered taking testosterone pills in preparation for some sort of pony sex change surgery, which accounts for the fact that Derpy looks female, but has a male voice.

Well, it was a woman trying to make a male voice sounding like a little boy she knew. Of course it ends sounding more like a feminine voice, but it was intended to sounds male, and was pretty close.

I think Derpy sounds like a girl. I've heard girls who've sounded like that.

Not for one second did I confuse it for a male voice (doesn't even come close)

Late to the party, but adding my two cents about the "Tabitha thought Derpy was male" thing, remember how far in advance these episodes are recorded. Its usually like a year before the episode airs if I'm correct (and if not its still several, several months). A year ago Equestria Daily was barely a month old, the fandom wasn't as massively huge.

Oh well, Tabs is still best actress. Sorry Tara.
