You know, Ginger, all you need for a marriage is two people getting married and someone legally capable of marrying them. All the ceremony is optional. If they can't get something, they skip it. Simple as that.

Of course, IRL people have nervous breakdowns about those things, so they're not casually tossed out. But a wedding can still happen without them.

The rodeo ponies are hard to differentiate, mostly because 90% of them are brown and have acoustic guitars for cutie marks. The rest of them are strangely out of place background ponies from Ponyville. It's not really a problem, but it certainly puts a damper on the "make characters out of new background ponies" game a lot of the fandom tries to play.

They went with "Derpy" because that's what the majority of the fans refer to her as. People were going to complain either way, but I think this prompted fewer complaints. Anyway, I'm still of the opinion that the mere fact that she showed up at all is a nice gesture from the writers, and we shouldn't complain too much about how it doesn't conform exactly to our expectations.
