@Ed: Well, I encountered a group of what could only be Malaysian bronies on a field trip to Singapore, so I decided to check if the world is smaller than I thought, since I've already met zankokuangel from the Madoka Thread and a bunch of SG-bronies at AFA 2011 (Anime Festival Asia).

@Ginger: I know AJ is working to earn the money she intended to donate to fixing up Ponyville, but the implied Les Yay makes me wonder if she was working for Cherry J. in other ways; confound it Freud stop laughing at me

I think the AJ shipping is popular because her personality contrasts pretty well with most of the other ponies, especially with Rarity and Rainbow Dash. Although I have to admit that I find pairing Twilight and Pinkie to also be pretty amusing.

PinkiTwi is just your standard Manic Dream Pixie Girl meets the Bookish Shut-In and shows them the joys of havin' a good time, though.

Wouldn't Pinkie-Twi just be Twinkie? Also, I've never quite understood that ship. Pinkie seems to legitimately annoy Twilight and Dash the most, though given that she doesn't really get to interact with Rarity, Fluttershy or Applejack very much...

She seems to work well with Dashie, and there's serious shipteasing of their pairing in Gilda's episode and Party of One.

Hence why I think it would be a more interesting interaction. I tend to base any ships off of what would be fun to watch more than what actually makes sense.

I bet a bunch of the Twinkie Pie shipping is because of the Lesson Zero nuzzle.

I thought it was all because of Feeling Pinkie Keen.

Funny thing is, somebrony on another forum/imageboard made a crack about how the first few episodes of Season One showed that Twi was rather desirable. Pinkies first reaction was to gasp and throw a poarty for her. Rarity decided to pretty her up. AJ invited her to stay for breakfast. Later, during Ticket Master, everypony wanted to go to the Gala, presumably with her.

Pinkie's one of the few forces capable of irritating Fluttershy as well

I'm not sure they wanted to go to the Gala with Twilight; none of their stated reasons really have anything to do with spending time with her, and if any of them were interested in her at that point, I'd have expected the 'so, Twilight, do you, uh... have anyone special you'd like to go to the Gala with?' questions to start up around the time they all started vying for the extra ticket.

Anyway, there's a reason I give Twilight glasses as a human, and it's split between long nights reading by candlelight and because I find glasses attractive (and thus assume that most other people do, too). So you might be right about that.

I'd read a fic where Pinkie tries to be a Manic Pixie Dream Girl to somebody who's impervious to her antics.

I always found the idea of shipping either AJ with Dash or Pinkie with Fluttershy funny simply because they share a voice actress. The concept of shipping a pony with another pony sharing the actress is hilarious to me, because my immediately goes to Rarity - and the fact that Tabitha St. Germaine voices absolutely everypony in this show. Rarity, so it seems, is in a relationship with Derpy, Mayor Mar, Luna, Nightmare Moon, and god knows who else.

Exactly! She does half the incidental voices in the show, and most of them we don't even realize.
