The only band I NEED to listen to are the Seatbelts. They made Tank! (awesome jazz0 and Rain, (pipe organ + electric guitar) two songs on opposite ends of the musical spectrum. And if you want more Latin Chanting you could listen to Inner Universe, also made by the Seatbelts lead composer Yoko Kanno.

Or you could just listen to Sacred Power of Raging Winds.

@ Mio

Not friends but 'mutual respect' could be a good ending.

[up]That does beg the question of what the moral of the episode would be. I guess it could be don't try to force friendship, but who knows.

@Mio exactly! Pinkie winning him over with her usual antics (or even at all) will probably just serve topiss me the fuck off.

Not EVERYONE needs to be your friend, Pinkie!

So, I was thinking about the ways Applejack and Rainbow Dash acted in this episode, and I don't think they were running contrary to their elements.

Appljack's entire problem here was that she felt that she let everyone down. She gave her word to come back with the money and prizes and all that, and when she didn't do as well as she'd promised, she felt that she couldn't come back. She had lost her honor, or so she thought. Let's just be glad she's not a samurai. Heck, the fact that she was willing to even go the "half-truth" route to get out of Dodge is something of a testament to how badly it had effected her.

As for Rainbow Dash, she had to make a snap decision about Rarity and Pinkie. She continued to chase after Applejack because she both needed them more, and because Applejack "abandoning" them had really left an impression on her. What would be more important for the Element of Loyalty? Going back to grab them, or getting the truth out of a friend who appears to have abandoned her friends, family, and hometown?

Now that I've said that, I'm going to go back to being food-centric. I really want to make a batch of cherrychangas, now.

Pinkie using winning him over with her usual antics (or even at all) will probably just serve topiss me the fuck off.

So, the moral would be "sometimes, people just don't want to be your friend. Give up."?

I'd like "don't force friendship" as the moral.

On the surface it may seem like those two are going against their elements, but everything makes a ton of sense when you really analyze it.

Also, mfw actual cherrychangas = not sure if want.

Regarding the "A Friend in Deed" episode, I think the moral will be more like, "Friendships form naturally. You can't just force them."

[up][up][up] Yes! YES! Exactly. I've been trying to win this girl's friendship for two years. It's lead to nothing but depression and anger.

Sometimes, people don't WANT to be your friend. Especially if you end up PESTERING them

[up][up][up][up][up][up][up][up]I guess that makes sense when you put it that way. Though the ending gag still bugs the hell out of me.

[up][up][up][up]Now that I think of it that may not be the kind of lesson that they would put in the show. I'm not sure how I would feel if that was the case.

[up]Of course it is.-_-

Is it? I thought it was just a portmanteau of Chimichanga, especially considering Pinkie's recipe.

...oh shit, Pinkie really is an alchoholic.

[up] No, it's still based off chimichangas.

How is that drink based off of chimichangas, apart from the name?

And I suppose that's true. The show is known for its sly alcohol references.

I thought you'd be happy for her to have an episode with her as a character instead of a plot device? Heck. The possible lesson she could learn about making friends naturally would be something of a fundamental change for her, who obsessively concerned with people liking her.

[up][up] but they will, because that's what EVERYONE ELSE (hyperbole) WANTS TO SEE!!

[up] .... it'll depend on whether it's done in an obnoxious way or not.

Her being used as a plot device instead of a character is only ONE of my problems with her. You should know this by now

And another problem of yours with her is her not learning significant lessons. Which this episode could very well change.

And you know I was being facetious about the family unfriendly aesop thing, right? One good extreme deserves another and all that jazz.
