Honestly I don't think t-shirts from We Love Fine count as Canon Forigners, one some of them are fan-designed like the Trixie shirt and two we don't normally count "official" t-shirts for other franchises....

I think it was, but a really long time ago (I think this thread is how I found out about it, anyway), as in early summer or something like that. In any event, it's a gooder and deserves to be reposted.

Hehe, yea, it would definitely be strange and uncomfortable for me. I imagine anypony would feel the same way (well, almost anypony... Pinkie might not care in the slightest and might even be the one initiating the hugs), which is why I'd at least try to have a full intellectual conversation with any Equestrian before asking for permission to hug.

Aren't the fan-designed ones just Contest Winner Cameo Canon Foreigners?

But maybe there should be a trope for characters who appear in merchandise but not actual works...other Merchandise Driven franchises have those, right?

Way back when I used to get Ninja Turtle toys, I seem to remember going "Wait, who?" when looking at some of the packages (mostly villains). It's totally possible those characters were one offs and I managed to miss their episode, though.

I remember also feeling a similar way about GI Joe, but I was much, much less familiar with the source material, so I may be way off base with this one.

EDIT: I'm totally surprised the pony hugs topic isn't generating more discussion.
