This episode pretty much confirms my ambivalence towards Apple Bloom, particularly concerning her tendency to lie about things in order to maintain her social status with other fillies. On one hand, that kind of behavior is something I highly disapprove of. Before anyone asks, yes, I was teased a LOT in junior high and high school, but unlike Apple Bloom, I saw the problem as completely being on the side of the "teasers" and to this day, being told "just ignore it" is a major
Berserk Button for me (mainly because I never saw them be punished for it, even if they were punished later). I don't think I have ever felt embarrassed, ever, though, not by my own behavior and certainly not by someone ELSE's behavior, so Apple Bloom's feelings are a bit alien to me (although I can understand her on an intellectual level).
On the other hand, part of me also likes that her tendency towards lying makes Apple Bloom noticeably different from her honest sister, and thus avoids making the sisters be annoying duplicates of each other. And I also really like that Apple Bloom is friends with Zecora and was the first to reach out to her. Thus my ambivalence towards her character.
As for the episode itself, I mainly liked the ending and the flashback story, and also REALLY liked that Filthy Rich was a LOT nicer than his daughter and made Diamond Tiara join in on the bunny thing at the end! I always LOVE seeing bullies get their comeuppance, especially since Diamond Tiara reminds me of a girl pony version of Draco Malfoy, who I absolutely DESPISE. Hopefully Silver Spoon could teach her to be nicer (or maybe her dad could). I also really liked the zap apples themselves and wish they were real simply because I LOVE rainbow-colored things.
