How did you miss her? She had like three scenes.

Also, I have to ask who names their kids Filthy and Stinkin'?

[up][up] I KNOW! Mr Rich clearly dislikes his first name too [lol]

Maybe that's why he broke the chain and named his daughter something prettier? waii

This episode pretty much confirms my ambivalence towards Apple Bloom, particularly concerning her tendency to lie about things in order to maintain her social status with other fillies. On one hand, that kind of behavior is something I highly disapprove of. Before anyone asks, yes, I was teased a LOT in junior high and high school, but unlike Apple Bloom, I saw the problem as completely being on the side of the "teasers" and to this day, being told "just ignore it" is a major Berserk Button for me (mainly because I never saw them be punished for it, even if they were punished later). I don't think I have ever felt embarrassed, ever, though, not by my own behavior and certainly not by someone ELSE's behavior, so Apple Bloom's feelings are a bit alien to me (although I can understand her on an intellectual level).

On the other hand, part of me also likes that her tendency towards lying makes Apple Bloom noticeably different from her honest sister, and thus avoids making the sisters be annoying duplicates of each other. And I also really like that Apple Bloom is friends with Zecora and was the first to reach out to her. Thus my ambivalence towards her character.

As for the episode itself, I mainly liked the ending and the flashback story, and also REALLY liked that Filthy Rich was a LOT nicer than his daughter and made Diamond Tiara join in on the bunny thing at the end! I always LOVE seeing bullies get their comeuppance, especially since Diamond Tiara reminds me of a girl pony version of Draco Malfoy, who I absolutely DESPISE. Hopefully Silver Spoon could teach her to be nicer (or maybe her dad could). I also really liked the zap apples themselves and wish they were real simply because I LOVE rainbow-colored things.

Hillbillies, I suppose. I can see how Stinkin' could get his name if he wasn't named the moment he was born, and maybe he just wanted to keep the tradition alive? Or perhaps inflict it on the somepony else.

[up][up] I just like that Silver Spoon was shown to not be a TOTAL ass. (which I deduced from pretty much her first appearance)

@that guy above: uh, isn't that there to teach the lesson that you shouldn't lie to maintain social status?

How did you think the Apples ended up near the Everfree forest then?

It's the company she keeps. Hey, Diamond Tiara, if it wasn't for Granny Smith, your pampered ass would be in the Everfree Forest.

Yeah, watch the episode again. Funny enough I don't think we've seen Celestia since "Lesson Zero". Go figure.

Also, I love Granny Smith's narration for some reason. Tabitha St. Germain totally nailed "old lady narrator".

I wonder if Robbie just didn't recognize Celestia because the colors were so subdued during the flashback.

@Robbie Rotten: Yes, I know that, and I'm glad that they actually went through with showing the consequences this time (and consistently do when Apple Bloom lies). As I said, it's complicated. It's behavior I really do hate, but on the other hand, I like everything else about Apple Bloom and part of me finds the idea of Applejack's sister having a lying problem to be ironically amusing.

I do empathize with her desire to not be made fun of, though. Unfortunately, Cheerilee doesn't seem to be very good at enforcing any "no bullying" rules, although she might if someone talked to her about it. She doesn't seem to be unreasonable in general, so I'd hope she'd listen.

[up] That certainly would be funny! Her dad seems to luckily be a lot better about discipline than Mr. Salt, though, since I don't imagine Mr. Salt making Veruca join in on a farmer's ritual.

I think Celestia looking "chibi" as your sister put it was just cause most of her scenes showed her from the front. We all know shat is NOT her good side.

And also nice way of putting it iwth DT, Veruca salt pretty much sums up how I was feeling too.

I watched it on YT. That's best way to watch (not counting TV, but I can't watch in TV), I'm not sure if try stream again mostly because those breaks. But this episode so great that even commercials don't ruined it. Now I'm starting to really like Granny Smith (before she was OK character).

So if WWU is correct and Ponyville have centuries of tradition and Granny Smith is one of the founding ponies this mean than my head canon about ponies having longer than humans lifespan is true? (Even if she is just incredibly old for pony).

That could explain how Luna could know Starswirl.

They are like the others. Strange, hideous, resisting, fighting. Only these were not like the others. They did not die.
