It's trixie, being an epicly awesome braggart is what she's best at (emphasis on the epic part, she's still awesome). And I'm sure she took that newt down fairly.

@fell: the best part was the Cutie Mark Crusaders being terrified by the scene with the Cutie Mark theft by means of a rusty knife. Now that's a way to traumatize them for a good long while.
My only issue with the "Trixie as a monster hunter" idea is that it was a pretty big part of her character that she doesn't live up to her own hype, at least in terms of raw power. I still think it could be done, though, but she'd have to hunt via trickery and strategy rather than attacking the monsters head on. Like she uses her illusion magic to confuse the monsters or lure them into a trap or something.
