It upgraded her from "just sort of generically ditzy" to a more specific "tries her best to help out but makes stuff worse". It also establishes her as a bit more rough-and-tumble than her sister; more diverging interests and skills rather than just being a less competent younger version of Rarity.

It's not that hard. The show recycles old aesops, and while the attempts to put new spins on them were admirable at first, they have now become much more formulaic and stale. The characters are constantly reset and given shallow characterization, meaning no fluidity between episodes, to the point the elements they are supposed to represent is pretty much an informed trait, with Pinkie Pie having so many absurd traits and idiosyncracies piled on her, she's not even a person, but some sort of thing that is just meant to react oddly, meaning she has no relatability as all, and only serves as some sort of circus freak.

I can come up with a laundry list of problems for everything I love, as nothing is perfect. I can also come up with a list of admirable traits about things that everyone hates as well. Nothing is completely awful, and nothing is perfect. Everything simply derives from your own enjoyment of a work.

Not in particular, although I'm flattered that you reacted to my post in such a way. I don't really have that much of a problem with the show, all the complaints mentioned are real problems with the show, but I think qualities trump problems. I think if the show had a bit more consistency, it would be a lot better.

The Pinkie Pie complaint was the only one I pulled out of my ass. I just relabeled the complaint I had for Konata.

But it could be a valid complaint, who knows?
