I was thinking of a character development episode where it's revealed that Trixie is in fact a descendant of Starswirl, and that's the reason she obnoxiously tries to impress everyone. Then she suffers an emotional breakdown from not being able to live up to her ancestor, and Twilight tries to get her spirits up.

This amuses me as I'm trying to do something similar with a fanfic about the toy Star Swirl (though her personality is a bit different from Trixie's).

As for Star Swirl the Bearded's mention in the play, my interpretation is that while Clover the Clever was his student, that isn't usually mentioned in the play and Twilight put it there as she wanted him to gain some more recognition.

So... does anyone have a guess as to how this latest ep with Granny Smith is gonna go down?

Is AB gonna try and rope her OTHER family members in to talk instead? (and the mane cast too most likely)

Is the whole school subplot just gonna serve as a framing device to tell the backstory of Sweet Apple Acres via flashbacks?

My guess is that it'll turn out that Granny Smith was really awesome back when she was young. Although given the fact that she's nigh-unintelligible most of time, I have no idea how it'll work out.

I really hope we get some backstory. A flashback to a younger Granny Smith would be awesome. Maybe Big Macintosh can FINALLY say something that isn't "Eeyup" or "Nope."

The only problem wth doing it that way is that it may lead to a broken aesop that Granny Smith used to be awesome but now she isn't because when you're old you stop being awesome. I'd prefer it if they show that Granny Smith is still awesome, even if it's in a different way from when she was younger. Like part of what makes the story great is not just that she was a badass but because she's a great story teller.

EDIT: Still, more backstory would be awesome.

In fact, my favourite part of that whole scene is Zecora's reactions. Like everything she's doing is highly technical and scientific.

Also, it may just be me, but I got the impression that having a squeeky head is a SYMPTOM of a maturing dragon
