Because at that point, the Elements were still attuned to her (and presumably to Luna but not Nightmare Moon). They lost the bulk of their power when Celestia was forced to send her dear sister to the moon.

Fast forward to the present, when Twilight discovers the magic of friendship, she syncs up everypony including herself, and this causes the Elements to be delinked completely from Celestia.

I was pondering Foil! Twilight...and I was wondering what he should be doing with himself...

Maybe he's joined what passes for the Equestrian Secert Service...putting his inventive and tactical skills, along with the skills of his friends, to keeping external threats out. Him and his mates are basicaly the cast of TF 2 in Equestria!

Foil! Twi is the spy (and team leader)

Foil! Spike is the soldier (Scales is a proper beast of war...just small and young)

Foil! AJ is the heavy

Foil! RD is the scout

Foil! Rarity is the engineer

Foil! FS is the Medic

Foil! Pinkie is the pyro

They live their lives as normal in their town, like the mane 6, but every once in a while Foil! Twi gets a message from HQ about some threat (boars, monster etc) and they rush off in the Airship to confront it.

No such thing as a neuronium white dwarf. They're simply Neutron stars. White Dwarf stars are diff- SHOT

I like his character designs. But Bustyshy is best humanization.

Episode 12:

So....Applebloom is adorable, Rainbowdash is sitll annoying, AJ is starting to grow on me, and there is some world building in there. Not bad.

The whole montage of special talent searches was funny and all...but it made me want to punch Rainbowdash in the face.

Pinkie Pie, never stop singing. Ever. This should become a Once an Episode deal. In fact Pinkie Pie needs more screen time in general; her bit with Applebloom was the best part of the episode.

The whole cutiemark thing....is this a metaphore for something? I feel like I'm missing out on something. Also the Cutie Mark Crusaders are kind of uber cute, I'm hoping this plot threat dosen't fall into oblivion like the Gala seems to have.

Random question: Why do all the cups have handles when none of the poneis have fingers or hands?

EDIT: Once I finish thirteen I'm probably going to write out a review of the series so far, since it's you know the half way point for season 1 (if I'm reading the episode guide right)
