She developed into a fairly badass protector of her family and quasi-Stealth Mentor in my fic... I realize that's fic and this is canon, but I did my best to stay accurate to how I see her in the show, so maybe there's some grounding for it?

Ginger, I'm assuming your favorite character is Applejack. She did help get Rarity and Sweetiebell back together.

Why is there a joke in the Dragon episode of Friendship is Witchcraft where Rainbow Dash and Applejack switch elements of harmony?

Pegasi are Spartans. Suddenly it's not so outlandish that Fluttershy could out muscle a bear.

On the Pegasi gags, I loved when they started fighting the clouds.

Edit: Rainbow Dash is usually honest and Applejack is the most dependable (loyal) pony in Ponyville.

Parents aren't around, leaving AJ and Big Mac the responsibility of looking after little Apple Bloom. Now imagine what problems might arise if Applejack starts to become a little too overprotective. (See Bridle Gossip)

Yeh she helped solve the Rarity/Sweetie Bell split.....and probably drilled Rarity on the course.

Every day AJ doesn't lock herself in her room and spend the entire day crying is a C Mo A. I mean, look at how easily overshadowed she is by her friends.

Seriously, she's not even the best at harvesting apples, something she based her entire life around. Fluttershy doesn't even need to kick the tree, and Twilight can harvest an entire acre at a time.

Thing is, with Applejack, being a badass isn't a single moment or a thing that happens in one episode. It's her bread and butter, a way of life. Why do you think the rest of the main cast are quick to turn to her first when they need help, either physically or advice-wise? Why do you think that the town gave her an award for averting a stampede that one time? The whole ceremony made it clear it was more of a lifetime achievement award than something for that one particular deed.

And why do you need to base your esteem of her off of the CMOA page? Do you need a popularity-contest of a Just For Fun page to, what, validate yourself for liking her?

I mean, it can't be healthy to get worked into a froth every time a unicorn or pegasus or Pinkie does something. I'm reminded of Boast Busters. Particularly, the way Twilight was afraid her friends would think poorly of her for her magic. Makes me feel sorry for Twilight. Can you imagine basically sacrificing social life as a whole to explore the field of study for which you have a true passion, only for people to be angry with you for your accomplishments, or insinuate that it wasn't your hard work, but your "potential", as freaking nebulous as that term is, that got you where you were?

Actually that was probably in referral to the point where Fluttershy looks at a tree and all of the apples fall off it.

Why RAEG over a lack of one CMOA, when she performs several MOA's instead? Spreading out the Awesome does not dillute it in any way, yes?

Applejack is loyal, dependable, diligent, and honest. She's not nearly as flashy as the other five, but that's okay. She's the epitome of what an Earth Pony is all about, I think.

Okay, can we not have this argument yet again? This seriously like the fifth or sixth time we've had this whole "It sucks that Applejack isn't as awesome as everypony else" discussion.

@Ginger: Seriously, stop taking this so personally. I know you really like AJ and want her to do cool stuff, but you bring this up all the time and it's starting to get old. Just because Applejack hasn't booted a mountain over the horizon or anything doesn't make her any less valuable as a cast member. Besides you don't need a reason to love her because you obviously already do.

Because Applejack can be an awesome character without needing everything to be codified in one giant moment. I mean, yeah, RD had the Rainboom, but that was just one thing, and she's had all sorts of terrible failures that make it almost look like a fluke. I don't think any less of AJ for not doing something like that because she more than makes up for it by being useful pretty much whenever she's on screen.

And in episode 2. If she didn't move as fast as she did, or wasn't able to hold on for as long as she did...

She's behind CHEERILEE! Yes, I know I shouldn't care about what other people say, but can you guys HONESTLY say that it doesn't feel good knowing that Twilight or Rainbow Dash or Pinkie (if they're your fave characters) are the most popular ponies amongst the fandom?
