It's really more of an Applebloom episode featuring Granny Smith.

Oh, I love that episode.

Oh, look at that, it appears I've become BOLTED TO THE WALL!
I'm guessing they picked ensemble episodes; the pilots are obviously going to be on the dvd as they're rather integral to the rest of the show. Given that we haven't seen 2 of the other 3 episodes, I can't really say what the theme is.
Or maybe the non-pilot episodes simply have trains in them. Over a Barrel had trains, the commercial clips from the new episode apparently have a train, and if "The Last Roundup" is an Apple Family episode that returns to Apploosa, the train will probably show up again.
Maybe they have to transport a bunch of cows to Apploosa or something, but they get loose.
except, there not really spoilers, there designed to NOT give away anything major, but to tease you with more information about the episode WITHOUT actually spoiling anything.
All we learned from this was "There's a play" which we knew
Spike is the narrator, new info but hardly a shock
The three tribes did NOT get along, strongly hinted at before, now just confirmed
there was a blizzard, already known
EP's seemed to get the shaft, new but not really surprising.
Build a fool proof system, and the world will create a better fool.
And then the three tribes unite under their gods to drive off the Deathlord known as Princess Magnificent with Lips of Coral oh wait that's
Exalted.

I'm interested by one of the new clips. So, magical control of the day/night cycle wasn't a magic first employed by Celestia and Luna. I wonder how many unicorns working in unison needed to be tapped to do that back then.
I have a message from another time...
