I know ponies hug, it just seems like it would probly be a bit, different, on a social meaning basis due to the physical differences. Mostly, I'd think hugging would be for much closer relationships then humans, just due to the added trust of letting somepony put the very hard, very dangerous hooves right next to your very voulnerable face. plus it's a bit more awkward for them to DO the huggin so would take a bit more effort.
