Is it just me, or are some of the names just spelled weirdly?

Like, take Soarin. For the same pronunciation, we could've had Soren, or even Soaren, if you want to keep the pun. "Soarin" just seems too blatant.

And then there's the owl's name.

It would be a bit of a stretch to make Soarin' a villain at this point, he seems pretty good natured from what we've seen of him. He tried to save Rarity, and anyone who likes Applejack's treats is okay in my book.

(Fun fact: I originally typed "he was really into Applejack's pie" and thought better of it.)

Okay, I gotta ask, did the use of Pie as a euphemism originate from MLP, or did it come before? Because I'd never heard it before, and it seems really weird considering we have a character who's surname is pie. Then again, I've heard some pretty lewd surnames in my time, so I guess it wouldn't be that weird in universe.

Of course that could lead into the "sometimes your idols aren't what you expect" moral. Not that I want any of them to be villains, but if the writers wanted to go that way they could make it work.
