Exactly. I can deal with the fact that cloppers exist. I don't get it, but if that's what they like, whatever. I just want them to keep it to themselves out of respect to the (rather sizeable) portion of the fandom that doesn't want to hear about it.

I would categorize the less family friendly elements as "darker" as just well, not light? This would be an umbrella including the sexy stuff and the gruesome stuff and the grim stuff.

Darker implies nastier, disgusting, shadier, morally deficient, evil and wrong.

"You want to stay away from THAT part of the fandom, they're on the dark side" It just sounds insulting. Especially when a lot of us are genuinely nice people (you like ME don't you?)

I will admit this, some of the humanised (can't stress that part enough) fan art will inspire...feelings, in me. And I've said this before, but I'd be lying if I said I've never had a dirty thought watching the show.

But all that stays inside my head. I don't publicly air it, and I think those who do run the risk of embarrising the fandom as a whole. We are already judged badly for liking little ponies people. Showing a bit of discretion goes a long way.
