I always thought of Rarity's specs as fancy fashionised work-goggles or something, with something like polarized lenses to help her see the fine threadwork better.

For a while, the Mass Effect 3 thread was giving us a run for the money. IRC, we didn't catch up until Luna Eclipsed or so.

This thread moves at the speed of imageboards during peak traffic :D Then it grinds to a crawl when most of the tropers are asleep or afk. In fact, we're about 7000 posts from catching up to the main Touhou thread, although the Touhou threads have like four or five offshoot threads and the old Alternate Character Intepretion Thread has fallen inactive in favour of the new one. Oh, and we have left the Madoka thread about 21000 posts behind us.

So far as I've seen, there's no real protocol (and I've been here since near the beginning). If someone is asking questions of someone directly, it's usually because they're both on at the time - personalized conversation tend to come during peak traffic, when... clashing personalities, shall we say, are on at the same time.

So no, I don't think you need to alert anyone to when you leave, but you can if you like.

I loved that picture which compares Touhou to Ponies and the verdict is "Same thing (more or less)".
