What year are you in college? Freshman and sophomore year weren't bad, but in junior and senior year when I had to start doing larger projects (plus working part time to not be broke) I had a lot less free time than I do now.

I'm a senior and my classes are still pretty easy. In some respects it's even better now that I'm no longer taking stuff like German which actually does take a lot of work. I mean I do get pretty busy when a project is almost due, but for the most part, I have lots of freetime.

Also I don't have to worry about money luckily.

I maintain that my college years were easier than high school.

Well the last Journalism class I was in was fine, in fact except for math my first semester none of my classes would really be counted as "hard". I just hope that it doesn't get worse >_< The Basic Reporting and newspaper stuff has me under enough pressure. (Miss a single deadline in the newspaper? You're out. Miss one or two in BR? Also out.)

Well since we are on the subject I guess I should say that I also restart classes tomorrow. It would be my last semester, if it weren't for the fact that a class I need won't be offered till Spring.

@Librarian: It wasn't so much that the class was difficult, it's more that I suck at journalistic writing. That and it was a tremendous pain to have to go through and conduct interviews and track down contacts and whatever. I realized that I liked making stuff up a lot more.

[up]I'm out of attending classes, but I work in a school, and we're starting up next week. That's going to be fun.

Before I start looking at college, I'm probably going to need a psych evaluation and some antidepressants.

You forgot to capitalize the nouns. Also I don't think the nominative is correct here.

I still don't know what I'm going to do now.

The good news is, unless I get myself the sack in the next two and a half weeks, I'll always be on the role here for work when positions cone around, with a chance of getting a full time job soon. However, I have to ask myself if that's really what I want to be doing. tongue

I was hoping to use my degree to get a foothold in a creative enterprise like a paper/magazine or the BBC. Or teaching. That's all gone down the toilet. Good pay or not, I don't think I want to be a bin man/litter warden/road sweeper all my life. Right now I've no official qualifications other than my a-levels (the UK version of a high school diploma). None at all. Doh.

Well, a lot of writing doesn't need much of a degree, I think. If you can find a nice internship you can wriggle your way into a real position eventually.

Really, the biggest block between most people and creative industries is the willingness to have a really, really shit job for a while. And having the psychotic levels of determination and ambition to try and work your way up through it.

Yeah. A lot of writing is just getting started. I tried to start writing an original novel a few days ago and then erased everything I'd written because it was just exposition XD

If I took flights of fancy and turned it into an original work down the line with tweaks (turning them into humans/other fantasy creatures, new place names etc), that might be my ticket. Easier said than done though.

Don't just throw away soemthing you've written. You might be able to turn it into something useful when you're more experienced. And you need to get into the habit of outting words down rather than getting rid of them.

Also, one of my coworkers realised that I was a brony. She approves as she says she already has brony friends.

Pride won't be doing you any favours here Apple, heh.

Apply for shit, even if you think you aren't qualified. It's the company's decision if you're qualified or not, and if they decide that you're good enough to give a shot, then it's your responsibility to prove them right. Don't need a piece of paper to do that.

Existential questions.

It belongs in a museum. No one ever mentioned where in the museum, though.

I would so play this game.

Don't worry, I noticed. The only problem is that I'm terrible at RTS games, so I generally only ever play the single-player campaigns.

Would they even recognize something from our world as looking 'real'? Or would looking at us be the equivalent of us seeing them in real life: Bizarre and cartoony.

Or would the additional dimension make us difficult for them to fully register, and give them a headache to look at for too long?
