I will just say that it's worth a chance. It's more than a tragic event after tragic event, it's no Cupcakes. It's the massive amounts of character development, great humour, and emotional depth that make it what it is.

I thought it would be a horrible, horrible story given it's reputation, but I found it to be so much more when I gave it a read. The darkness can get a bit too much in places, but I wouldn't call it at all mean-spirited. The mane story is guilty on this point as well at points.

And that's all I have to say on the matter.

I started on PH. Gonna read chapter 2 after updating my liveblog. It seems to have a mix of some things being big improvements over the original and other things just being more of what I already didn't like in the original.
