Nom: You sure about that? He's not listed on their site and the con date is just over the hill.

Honestly, I'd say the Brony Chronicles is a far better doc.

Not pony related, but awesome. If you had a planet the size of the earth collide with the earth at one mile per hour, these are the effects if you were 1, 000 miles away from the impact point.

Final Crater Diameter: 427 km ( = 265 miles ) Final Crater Depth: 1.83 km ( = 1.14 miles ) Magnitude 10.0 earthquake Average Ejecta Thickness: 4.31 meters ( = 14.1 feet ) Mean Fragment Diameter: 1.91 mm ( = 0.754 tenths of an inch ) The air blast will arrive approximately 1.36 hours after impact. Peak Overpressure: 63700 Pa = 0.637 bars = 9.04 psi Max wind velocity: 121 m/s = 270 mph Sound Intensity: 96 dB (May cause ear pain)

All of this, of course, ignores what happens when the two planets collapse into each other.

A similar thing happend with Mars when a Pluto-sized object smashed into it a few billion years ago, The crater covers a third of it's surface.

Something just occurred to me today. Are Equestria's sun and moon perfectly synced with each other? As in, are the sun and moon on exactly opposite sides of the planet at all times? Because if that's the case, then the sizes of (and distances between) all those heavenly bodies can't be Earth-like. Otherwise the moon would be perpetually eclipsed.
And, since today is apparently National Jump To Conclusions Day...

If they were synced, thy wouldn't necesarity be eclisped, but it would always be full moon (which I thought it was, but isn't).

@ Mio: I found an online asteroid impact effect calculator.

Edit: I still haven't been able to find an impact that affects the earth's orbit or tilt without completely reducing it to rubble.

My favorite has always been the speculation of what would happen if a black hole entered the solar system.

And I've gone with the idea that the princesses don't move the sun and moon, but rather rotate the planet.

Or it could be that other planets have their own suns and moons orbiting them and the galactic neighborhood the planet is in is composed of many mini solar systems. Given what we've seen, it could very well be Equestrian space is nothing like this universe's.

Just a little update for you all regarding my holiday. I just went to Fridays and had a burger and fries for dinner but I think I may have overdid it with the Cola Cola refills while I was there because I had way too many and I have had a massive sugar rush and went all loopy and now I have a headache and I'm just chilling in the hotel lobby sitting on the couch right now. And also I saw plushies of Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Allicorn Twilight Sparkle.....DAMN YOU BUILD-A-BEAR!

They have the same constellations and comets work the same way. They also have meteor showers and call them that, rather than "shooting stars".

EDIT: I actually went to the first Burger King in South Africa today.

Wait, the first Burger King built in South Africa, or the first Burger King, which happens to be in South Africa?

Also, I seem to have a new Tumblr to follow.

Pro-tip for all of you DON'T drink 4 bottles of Cola Cola and a bottle of Pepsi Maxi all on the same day! Trust me it'll bite you in the ass later on like it did with my sugar rush.

The first Burger King, as in it only opened recently and we only have one in the whole country.

[up][up]Err... Sugar rushes aren't actually a thing. You can't get hyper from it. It's just an old wife's tale.

Caffeine however? That may do it.

So a few weeks ago one of my friends got really into the show and my dark secret of bronyhood was ousted to my friends.

Since then, we have one friend who continues to give us shit for liking it (in a good natured way of course). But today, said friend called me onto our Minecraft server to see his finished version of Galt's Gulch. He gave me a tour, and led me to the temple where he had explained he had building a mysterious statue he wouldn't speak of. I was expecting something to do with money.

It wasn't what I expected. grin

[up] GOOOOODDD! Man I'm just....I'm gonna wake up tommorrow, I'm gonna feel like death and I'm just gonna have a bigger headache. But seriously I did go loopy after downing 4 of coke after finishing my burger and fries, it really did happen. And oddly enough I drank the Pepsi Max at lunchtime.
