I've heard that the writers and storyboarders really like the Doctor Who references. That, behind closed doors, they refer to the pony as Doctor Whooves, and they had him turning the hourglass as a deliberate DW nod. I guess the threat of lawsuits is the only reason we haven't gotten even more references in the show itself.

And, since today is apparently National Jump To Conclusions Day...

To be fair, only Slice of Life and Inconvenient Trixie are currently going. Moonstuck was the only thing she was working on until it finished, and then she moved on to Slice of Life.

Slice of Life is still a helluva project, mind you(And honestly I'd love to see it published as an official comic, both so she has funds to keep doing it and because I seriously think it deserves it when official comics are already happening), but Inconvenient Trixie is a pretty intermittent thing, and the simplest of her styles by far, so I don't think it's that much of a drain.
