Geez, no wonder we see so few Griffons. With an ambassadoe like that I would be very surprised if the two weren't perpetually at war.
I don't remember that.

That would explain why she goes around doing all the things she does, though I don't know if diplomatic immunity usually extends to the family of the ambassador.

I kind of want Gilda to be the ambassador. If only to see what a disaster that would be. Even though I never really saw "Griffon the Brush Off". It would have been my first episode of FiM, but I didn't want to see an episode with a focus on a non-pony character as introduction to the series, so I stopped early on and watched "Boast Busters" instead.
Talking about S1 episodes I haven't watched, I just saw "The Cutie Mark Chronicles". I really liked Pinkie's part. From the ridiculously dull life on the rock farm to Sweetie's "She's just being Pinkie Pie". Not sure about the end, though. That Rainbow Dash is responsible for everyone getting their cutie marks is a little bit... very contrived. Also, it was sappy as hell (thank god for Scootaloo and Spike, who softened things a bit). It reminded me of a certain line by Fluttershy in "The Last Roundup". Seriously, take the sappiness out of that line and spread it over two entire scenes and you get the end of "The Cutie Mark Chronicles".

For funny points, make her father a Bumbling Dad who's pretty embarrassed about the whole thing and gets Gilda to apologize. Your grounded little missie, that means no bear-hunting for a week!

I'm sorry to say, you've been eaten by a Grue.

I don't know if I'm just weird, but I tend to find those "counter-schmultz" lines more annoying then the schmultzy lines themselves. I guess cause I usually associate those things with extreme childishness.

Well, to be fair, there was sap right at the beginning of the episode, so I should have seen this coming.

It's still my favorite episode, and I have no idea why. It's more than a little contrived, and the CMC act as little more than a plot device to get more Mane Six backstory, but it's constructed so well and it's just so sweet. Reminds me of a G3 special.

I loved Pinkie and Twilight's sections, and Rarity's was hilarious. The others were okay, but they didn't really tell us anything about the characters that we didn't already know.

I can't believe I never noticed that myself (granted, I only ever watched "Luna Eclipse" one time):
Not sure what's worse. The fact that a pony laid an egg or that I'm unsurprised about this, because Pinkie Pie.
Actually, scratch that. Seeing this right after watching "The Cutie Chronicles", I can't help but notice that that egg looks very similar to Spike's. Which makes me suspect that this is a dragon egg. What does that mean? Ponies lay dragon eggs? Chickens lay dragon eggs? Pinkie can make a "wrong species biology double reacharound" and lay eggs from a different species than her costume, all while being (supposedly) a mammal? No one can say for sure, but it's definitely the latter.
