Favourite episodes?

MY favourite from Season 1, possibly even my favourite overall, is Green Isn't Your Colour. From Season 2, any Pinkie episode is good, but in particular Baby Cakes(Mostly because I love the cakes as characters as well, and I like kids).

Season 3 is a bit harder to say... probably Sleepless in Ponyville.

My favorites are Sonic Rainboom, Hurricane Fluttershy (Party for being a Fluttershy episode, partly for being Flitter and Cloudchaser/Stromwalker's first appearance in the show), and Magical Mystery Cure.

BTW I'm trying to make a Threshold Guardian for Twilight Sparkle, based on her fears of losing her friends, any ideas?

I think Twi's issues are a bit bigger than just fear of losing her friends. That's just one symptom of a general tendency to mentally exaggerate her flaws and downplay her successes. In spite of everything Twi's accomplished, she doesn't seem to believe that she accomplished it. That's why she's afraid that one big mistake will drive her friends away, or will make Celestia stop being her mentor.

As for my favorite episode... <re-reads contract> I think it's still "Flight of the Discords". Lightning Dust really stole the show there.

It's stuff like this which is why I took a long time to really start liking Pinkie to the degree that I liked the others. She's still my least favourite of the Mane Six.

Dragonshy and Bridle Gossip were also really the turning point to REALLY good IMO. But Season 2 is my favourite season. My favourite episodes, in order, from the best:

A Dog and Pony Show is really good, probably my favorite Rarity episode with Suited for Success as a second.

And how can you not like the Super Cider speedy squeezy 6000, it's got one of the best songs in the series.

Mare-do-Well, Spike at Your Service, and Owl's Well are the worst in their season IMO.

Speaking of Canterlot... Why on Earth has the show not yet bothered to at least briefly explain what Canterlot is despite it being namedropped and even technically "shown" (via Twilight's original residence — the interior of it, that is)? Is that where the royal palace is located at?

It's a good song, true, but it doesn't make up for the sheer level of Idiot Plot and the Ludd Was Right Aesop.

Largely because in the first few episodes it isn't important.

Basically, from what we understand, it's the capital of Equestria. The Royal Palace is located somewhere in it, but we've also seen various nobles and aristocracy, and there's a strong implication it's a very ritzy city. Think of the popular perceptions of Paris, perhaps. Though smelling less of piss from what I hear.

I myself tend to associate Canterlot with Vancouver, if only because of the fact that Canterlot is built on a mountain.

I don't think the aesop actually has anything to do with the machinery, and if it seemed that way it's to the episodes fault, I'll admit. I think the intended moral was more to do with the care that was put into it. Flim and Flam kinda flopped because they didn't give a shit about the product over the bottom line, but before they threw QC out the window their Cider was still top-notch, or so it seemed.

My favourite episode is either Hurricane Fluttershy or Sonic Rainboom. Least favourite is harder to decide. Maybe Over a Barrel, Mysterious Mare Do Well or Keep Calm and Flutter On.

It being the capital of Equestria has been confirmed All In The Manual. And yes, it's the site of the royal palace (well, the current one. The old one is in the Everfree Forrest as was shown in episode two).

EDIT: Yes. The problem wasn't with the machine (that was actually treated as a good thing) but rather with the customr service attitude.

Also, my least favourite episode is Over A Barrel. I still enjoyed it so much that I've rewatched it multiple times.
