Let's see... We watched episodes 9 and 10 of season 2 this past weekend, right? So, there's 16 episodes left in season 2. That plus the 13 season 3 episodes means we have 29 episodes left. Watching at a rate of 2/week, we still have 14 1/2 weeks to go. So, 14 weeks if we watch three episodes the last weekend, 15 if we watch MMC by itself. So we're looking at either September 28 or October 5 as the date of our last hangout.
Math. It's good for you.

I read the latest installment of "Twilight's First Day" last night. Among other things, I love how the artist uses perspective to make the adults look huge in comparison to Twilight.

No need to apologize dude. Actually, I was more confused than offended by your post, which is why I went all nitpicky.
There's not much more reasoning to be done though, insofar as "I have reason to not have high hopes for the finale" is concerned.
I will say though, it does confuse me that Return of Harmony has fans. I mean, my biggest problem with it is that it just doesn't seem like a Pony episode and it derails the characters and setting for the sake of making it work in a more superhero-esque story. You'd think such a thing would have far more backlash, but on the contrary I've actually been told (on the Discussion for the "Dethroning Moment" page) that its a stupid thing to complain about! Puh.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
