Pretty much. Almost everyone who heard about Katawa Shoujo thought it was going to be incredibly tasteless, especially the Japanese (katawa is no longer a politically correct term for disability, much like cripple). Instead, it turned out to be this story about how disabled people are actually pretty goddamn normal when you get right down to it — they can go to school, take up hobbies, fall in love, get their hearts broken, be scared, be neurotic, or be brave, just like anyone else; being blind or deaf or an amputee is no obstacle to finding fulfillment in life, or at least it shouldn't be.

I was mpressed with the respect that Katawa Shoujo was handled with. Having a blind, paralysed mother meant that the issu was lose to me and I think it was done well.

Fighting is Magic is still going to be released. They're just calling it Fighting is Magic now (dropping the MLP part of the title). They had to axe all the work they've done, but Lauren Faust is now on staff herself designing all new characters for the game (who all appear to be cute quadruped critters), and they were recently donated the use of the Skull Girls engine for designing the game. The music creators are still on-board as well. So yeah, it's actually looking up.

EDIT: Just got through running an epic, 5 hour Dresden Files rpg session. It's 3 a.m. but as always when I GM I am way too keyed up to consider sleep.
