@Applelight: Just because some of them suck doesn't mean they all do. Keep in mind that they're stationed in a city where 90% of the inhabitants seem to hate them by default. Being stuck in that circumstance, it's no surprise that they wouldn't exactly be inclined to be personable. These are the same guys who, according to you, are constantly in danger of being firebombed or whatever. Anybody would be grumpy in that situation. Doesn't justify it, of course, but it goes a long way towards explaining why everything is so crappy if both sides go out of their way to antagonize each other.

Don't contribute to the problem.

I went to A Cen (Anime Central) in Chicago on Saturday. Even though it's an anime convention, there were people dressed up like characters from American cartoons as well as Japanese ones. And like last year, there were a lot of pony fans too, both cosplayers and other fans. There was even a Sailor Moon cosplayer who had a Pinkie Pie bag, so she must be a fan of both of those shows like me! Since I don't think any of the actual pony conventions are near where I live in Illinois (that I know of), the anime convention seems to be the next best thing since it seems that there are a bunch of bronies and pegasisters there along with the anime fans now. I didn't go as a character myself but I did wear a My Little Pony shirt that I have with most of the main characters on it, and someone gave me a "bro-hoof" because he recognized my shirt.
