[up] It's like Calvin and Hobbes. I think. Haven't actually read Calvin and Hobbes.

@Purple: believe me, SEGA has bounced back from Shadow the Hedgehog.

Very much so. They're worth looking forward to now.

But hey, this is not the Sonic thread.

Re: Comic. The comic is really good. Not perfect, but for the most part it's definitely comparable to the show in terms of quality, if not even eclipsing it at some points. The Rarity micro is hilarious. Also, it has stoner ponies.

Also, Calvin And Hobbes is awesome.

The only exposure I've had to the comic was the Rarity micro-series. It was pretty damn good. I'll probably only buy the micro-series. I'm not really into ongoing series. To my mind, a story is only really satisfying when it's finished.

But it IS finished story

The Comics go in 4 issue arcs, not one big overall story. The writers see each issue as being equal to about half an episode. With the 4 issue arcs being two-parters, and the upcoming 2-issue ones being more like single episodes.

The First arc was issues 1-4 and it's wrapped up, the current one is issues 5-8 and is halfway done.

That said I do believe they are releasing a book soon that is just the first arc all in one book.

Oh, god, I'm watching a show called Come Dine With Me and one of the contestants is...hhhaaawwwtttt.

In other news, yeah, I can't believe they did stoner ponies in a way that gets past the radar. That story was brilliant. Oh, and the main story is getting good too.

[up][up][up] Eh, only reading one arc and not the others would feel weird and unfinish-y to me. Plus, ongoing comics are expensive.

That said, if they release some kind of graphic novel I'd be all over that.

Huh? it's no different then watching the show. Each arc is just one episode of the show. And they are pretty cheap unless you have to pay for shipping.

Stoner ponies, eh? That sounds like fun. What did they do to imply the ponies were stoners, out of curiosity? Just the whole droopy-eyed, slow speech thing?

Purple, I'm shocked and appalled that you never read Calvin & Hobbes, that comic partially defined my childhood.

[down]Ah, okay.

[down][down][down]Ooohhh. Once they release the TPB, I might pick it up.

Well, I don't need to pay for each and every episode of the show.

There are plans to release a trade paperback. I intend to get it.
And, since today is apparently National Jump To Conclusions Day...

The trade for issues 1-4 is already out. Just saw yesterday when I went to get #7.

I prefer trades. I'd rather have the whole tale than have it drip fed to me.

You need to read Calvin And Hobbes. Now.

To be honest, I hadn't even heard of it until TV Tropes kept mentioning it.

Dalek, how could you not have heard of Calvin & Hobbes until you reached tv tropes? It's a seminal touchstone.

Apple, like Syd, I too am interested in hearing more about this contestant. Go on. Razzing-frazing ten minute posting limit....

[up]Eh, I prefer some things to be left to the imagination, an air of mystery just isn't appreciated the way it used to be.

[down][down]Strange, I'm pretty sure we still had Calvin & Hobbes in our paper when we were living in Frankfurt, but being there with the embassy, we were probably getting American papers, so there you go.
