Australia was where the Worldbuilder decided to go into Hardcore Mode and enable all the killer wildlife generation thingies.

Australia's dangerous. If you die in Australia, you die in real life.

So the Everfree is actually a portal to Australia, is what you're telling me.

Fascinating creatures. Heh...

I dunno, they're still not as scary as Bug-type Pokemon, I mean one of the weakest bugs (Beautifly) is supposedly a voracious predator, Scyther and Scizor are ninja mantises with swords for arms, Scolipede is a dog-sized centipede (And probably why there are no Zubat or Golbat outside of Castelia Sewers in Unova!), and Volcarana is a Fire-type moth so powerful it was used as a backup Sun by some ancient civilization. Also, Vespiquen is a hive and queen bee in one mobile package, and Beedrills are wasp/bee hybrids with foreleg stingers the size of daggers. Also also Durant is a steel-plated giant ant.

Australia pretty much is the Everfree only 1. it's a desert rather than a forest, and 2. it actually exists.

Basically, Australia is the equivalent to an Everfree Desert. My headcanon is that the Everfree is what happens when ponies let nature take it's course in a wooded area. Australia is what happens when they leave a desert alone for too long.

To me Australia is the land of a massive mining boom that's choking the rest of the economy and driving up the currency.

Australia: The bottom of the world's biggest rock, where all the snakes and spiders hide.

Also alligators.

Alligators aren't so bad, at least you can wrestle them :V
