I just learned that a long-time contributor to a (non-TV Tropes) music discussion forum I've frequented for over ten years has passed away. Complications from diabetes. He was just 58 years old.

He was a former DJ, and had the most posts on the forum by far. His posts were always informative and entertaining. My direct interactions with him were limited, but I still thought of him as a friend. He disappeared about a year and a half ago, came back briefly about eight months ago, then disappeared again. Turns out that he spent the last few months of his life in a nursing home.

Damn.
