No I really don't think "many" want that. most people I know love it for it's LACK of those things. Yes it can be done well but overall, I'd prefer light more hopeful and cheery stuff.

I definitely don't think the majority of people want darker pony stories. For me I'll occasionally read one, but I usually prefer when things aren't all grim.

Good. There's enough grim out there. Ponies are a welcome break from all that.

Yeah on the whole I don't like stuff that gets dark just for being dark.

And yes it does seem off that I love FOE so much with that, but FOE works because at it's core, it's about hope, about how thing can be better, SHOULD be better, and that no matter how dark it gets, there is still hope.

This is exactly why I've never been able to get into any Dark Fic. If I wanted that, I'd read/watch something that's like that to start with.

Even then there's still too much grimness in the interim for my taste. I like Earn Your Happy Ending as much as the next guy, but any story that turns Equestria into an irradiated wasteland has gone way past the point that I'd consider too dark, even if it does have a happy ending.

Table formatting isn't that hard to remember if you just want to keep your reaction images from getting shoved to the bottom of a post. You just need to surround the filename with || (a pair of the vertical bar characters you get from hitting SHIFT+backslash) on each end.

You could also fix it by editign your cookies (or using javascript to edit them)
