The ones she did in Griffon the Brush Off and Party of One didn't seem too juvenile. Oh, and Twi's birthday (before they crashed the other party like a bunch of drunk sorority girls) during Sweet and Elite.

They're a bit all over the place. Some are very juvenile, but then again ponies have that vague age thing going on after all. Others are not. She did the wedding reception right? That would include that disco too.

I do like them. They're just pretty squarely in Rainbow Dash's shadow. Does a Sonic Rainboom while tranquillised, becomes fluent in a new language in days, wanders around casually in a place that is all but killing others to be at, completes an obstacle course that is impossible for everyone else and that's with the difficulty ramped up beyond what anyone else does. And that's not even everything I'd honestly prefer the fic if it was ocs only. And this is from someone who's favourite pony is Rainbow Dash.

And yeah I'm fond of the Fallen World stuff. I'm about to read The Heart Thief actually.

I get that, but there is a good reason for RD to be there. Once you've caught up, you should be able to see that and your problems miight be mitigated bit.

Also, RD hasn't Rainboomed once since she woke up (she's gone over mach 4 twice, but hasn't quite crossed Rainboom speeds yet. Umbra doesn't think she can anymore.), she was tapping her Talent when she learned Solar and one of the rules of the setting is "talents always win", so that's not exclusive to her (it's also why she doesn't stand a chance in a one-on-one with Charisma), she wasn't wondering casually in the Everstorm. She was suffering from magic overdose and was in danger of insanity and overhealing same as the others. Remember that overhealing is very dangerous in this setting. And the only change to The Maul was using bigger missiles for the final shot, which she defeted via sonic boom, something which some other pegasi are also capable of.

And yeah, the idea is that Rainbow is basically as if we suddenly dug up Heracles or Gilgamesh or Samson or Achiles or someone like that and they were just as powerful as their legends said they were.

Other than the odd infodump which still gets a nice lampshade by the snarky cast, the world building's pretty solid. In particular, the Everstorm is a pretty awesome concept especially as the Eye is basically a magical event-horizon with a side bonus of Eldritch Location and a time warp.

And it this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Blaze gets his own fanfiction, the guy's pinkier than Pinkie at times.

Ah, I'm reminded of the times I read fanfics. Oddly enough, rather than look up those who were confirmedly good I tried to pry through the new ones to try and find unappreciated gems.

This is partly why I am immune to written shock value, and the way I learned my standards might be low when other people's writing is concerned.

@Sereg: I haven't read the fic in question, but just because there's a reason for her comparative awesomeness doesn't mean it causes her to overshadow the other characters even less.

@Kyler: I'm pretty sure neck elongation is a pretty standard pony ability.
