The only programming I care about is what's on TV.

That's my dose of productivity for today.

I treadmilled for an hour. I guess that's something.

I woke up at around 1 in the afternoon, so that probably says a lot about how productive I'll be today.

Real bronies program in BASIC.

That's how my dad did it. Unfortunately, getting my father to become a brony would be like pulling teeth. Getting him to watch anything animated is a real mission. I've managed before, but it's ludicrously hard. And he has a tendency to give up in about five minutes without constant urging.

I woke up around 10. Considering how I seem to have become mostly nocturnal, this is quite early for me.

Actually, no, that wasn't it. Apparently it became "paint all the goddamn things" day while I wasn't looking, and I'm almost done with a bench.
Oh, the thread? Don't worry, it's just dead.

So my parents are officially getting divorced now. That's actually a relief. I want my dad to move on and be happy in life, which he can't do when he's still shackled to the wicked witch. Anyway, how's the thread?

Plenty normal.

Good for you, I think? My parents have been divorced since as long as I can remember, but I never quite managed to be happy about that.

I kind of assumed your parents would have been divorced a while ago, Apple. On account of I don't think you've ever mentioned your Dad.

My dad is the only one in my family I can stand. He's a good man who put up with her nonsense for years, and now he's finally excorcisng himself of her. Good for him I say. A few months ago he walked out of the house to live at his sister's, with my backing.

Yikes. Sorry to hear your family situation is so messed up. Hope your dad gets through it all okay.

I'm always up when it's night somewhere in the world.

Done with that bench, and good to hear your dad's finally going through with that.

We're a big screwed up family. Sometimes I wonder how I can out OK. Actually, living as a sort of basement dweller with not much interpersonal contact with others outside of the internet, doing a webcomic about cartoon ponies, and having not had a girlfriend in nearly 3 years, maybe I'm not normal at all. tongue

@ Apple (post 354934): Good. The sooner your dad extracts himself from her life, the better. It's also good to know that you're okay with this.

We're a big screwed up family.

I know the feel, man. I more or less completely got away from my family as well. Might be why I'm such a huge fan of Applejack: jealousy.

I hope you manage to escape, so you won't get bogged down by the issues of people that you never got to choose for yourself.

They're... taking it rather well, actually.

@Applelight, Kayeka: i'll pray for both of you, honest.

My biological mother married a guy who turned out to be a violent drunk. She died when I was just 18 months old, and us four kids were taken in by our single aunt. She told me horror stories about how "dear old dad" used to come pounding on the door in the middle of the night, drunk out of his skull, screaming that he wanted to see his kids.

The best thing he ever did for us was to drop dead of a heart attack when I was seven.

It's at times like this I like to sit quietly, and remind myself the worst things I can say about my parents is my mum is a bit of a nag and is mildly less accepting of my sexuality than perfection...

It really sucks to hear that, Syd, Kayeka and Apple. At least, form the sounds of things, it's mostly past-tense...

Well it's really good news that you're all for it. The general idea of divorce is that it leaves the child traumatized.

I'm sorry I even brought that up now. sad

For me, ten years ago maybe it would have, but I'm an adult now.

remember that your past does not define you. you can either give into despair, or rise above it.
