It's... meh. It was technically decent, but the execution wasn't.
"Welcome. You have entered the cranial vistas of psychogenesis. This is the place of no-time and no-space. Do not be afraid."
I heard it was OK, but suffers from trying to get EVERYTHING into the movie, and one really bad casting choice for Javart.
Really? I really liked Javert in it, actually. if it was anyone I thought Hugh Jackman kinda got overshadowed by some of the other actors. But yeah, it's good but the beginning in particularly is really choppy and rushed, and it doesn't really catch it's stride until about an hour in.
Oh it does. It's what got me into musicals. Then I saw Rent and it was all downhill from there.
"Welcome. You have entered the cranial vistas of psychogenesis. This is the place of no-time and no-space. Do not be afraid."
Honestly I'm just mirroring what I heard. I wish I could have seen it in theaters though.
I saw Phantom of the Opera live when I was young. That was fun - although the Chandalier bit at the beginning, where it explodes so they can change the set to the first song, freaked the hell outta me and I missed a bit of the beginning because of it.
I kinda figured it would be inevitable that the pacing got a bit rushed. It's what happens when you try to fit a four-hour musical into a movie.
And trying to fit said 4 hours in a plot crammed as it is from one doorstopper of a novel.

Like "Magical Mystery Cure", Les Mis would have been better as a two-parter?
I'm still trying to find good art of Pegasus!Cadance.
Little towwwwwn, it's a quiet villaaage...
Unser Stadt, ein ruhiges Dorfchen...
I probably mangled that, since I don't remember the exact words to the German version. But often times, I think of the German version first when I hear the song.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
I thought that "Morning in Ponyville" being a refference to "Oh! What a Beautiful Morning!" rom Oklahoma was ... obvious. Even to the musically ininformed me. Then again, I had to listen to that song multiole times in Primary school.
Unity of the Sun Mare
I thought it was too bouncy to be that specifically, but hey.
"May the Best Pet Win"/ "Animal Song" (forgot the name) Doctor Dolittle
I've never been able to see much similarity. Was this ever confirmed?
And trying to fit said 4 hours in a plot crammed as it is from one doorstopper of a novel.
Well hey, it's important to have expositon about the Paris sewer system in the middle of your story.

Well I've never seen Oklahoma.
