Nice Octavia!
What a morning I had there. I'm real proud of myself atm, because I stopped a kid getting mugged today. I had just gotten out of the uni library and was heading back to where I had parked my car, and a tiny boy (only about 4 foot five) of about 13-14 in the uniform of the grammar school across the way from my uni was coming towards me. There were three guys (Romanians in their teens if I had to guess) outside an abandoned house in between us. As he went pass them, they suddenly surrounded him. I immediately knew that there was something wrong, so I went straight up to them, and sure enough, they were 'asking' him for change, with one trying to get a look at his iphone.
I just cut straight in by interrupting them, and pretending to know him, and claiming that his friends were waiting for him in the shop at the corner. I was using a fake air of happy friendliness, but inside I was
raging. Then I asked him who these guys were. He said he didn't know, but they said that they were friends of his. I asked him were they, and he said no.
So, still smiling, I told him to run along to the shop, which he did. The three guys were now starting to slink away, but one (the tall one) got a little cocky and started getting an attitude, giving me bad looks and looking like he had something to say. So I asked him if he had a problem...he didn't answer, so I told him if he ever lies to me or tries to rob anyone ever again I'll put his eyes out...and he started mouthing off at me. I kinda hoped he would try to push or hit me...I was already planning out the head but I was going to deliver to him in my mind. But then, the kid from before managed to run to a group of my fellow students (big sporty guys from the country) outside the shop, who then came marching over. That's when the three idiots finally saw sense and ran off.
So, crisis averted. The wee lads alright, and he got to keep his phone and money. He didn't want the police involved, but we (me and the others) advised him to go a different route next time.
Pretty chuffed with myself here. I've been mugged as a kid, and it's not pleasant, so I'm glad that I managed to spare him that trauma.
