They've got a writer in their pocket.
They become superdudes
because they luck out the mutation lottery.
Off to class now.
It is in the nature of the spiteful to spread animosity.
And also because they have the personality for it. I think a normal civic minded person would go to the government, or scientists, or start a company or something. Some superheroes do, and there are reasons for why many don't, but it's still weird.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
I think most would prefer not to be locked in a lab for research.
They don't have to be. Not all scientists are evil you know.

Plus a lot of superheroes are also scientists - Spiderman, The Hulk, The Beast, Reed Richards, Iron Man, ...

I don't really have any strong feelings about OBA. I lean towards it being pretty good, but I don't think it was a standout either.
@Mio: Agreed wholeheartedly. OBA is definitely down there with Dragon Quest as my least favorite episode in the series.

I didn't think much of it at the time, especialy since TMPP was a hard act to follow, but it's infinitely better than AFRU in my opinion.

I also didn't like the song at the time, but it's grown on me.

The reason why I hated OBA is how unsubtle and predictable the delievery of aesops and dialogues, respectively, were. That is obviously a case of YMMV. As for bullies, eh, they were never really a part of my childhood.

I've never really experienced bullying either.

Hehe, from a fanfic:
So Bitchcess Celestia wants me and my friends to help out with this sham, does she? She wants Applejack to give everyone food poisoning, and Pinkie Pie to get everypony to party hard. Fluttershy is once again conducting the bird choir. Ugh, once again with the fucking birds. Seriously, find a fucking guitar. I know they're usable because the Crusaders used them during their shitty talent show. Rainbow Dash is instructed to do a Sonic Rainboom during the ceremony because nothing is more beautiful than Pegasus diarrhea at Mach 1. Rarity will design the dresses for the slut and her whoremaids, and lastly, I'm supposed to make sure everything comes together.

I especially love the pegasus diarrhea bit.

@Morning: While it makes a point, at least about the blank flank thing(Though to be honest I'm certain that DT and SS's motivations stem from a personal dislike of the three rather than their blank flank status), but I think the conclusions are pretty unfair. Babs was still very much treated as being in the wrong: the reason the CMC were seen as the bad guys is because they were doing EXACTLY the same thing as she did. The point of the episode was basically that hurting others to feel good, regardless of motivation, is always wrong. Bear in mind, nobody is really punished here. The CMC don't really take any blows - at worst they wind up in the mud, which while it was supposed to humiliate Babs, doesn't really move towards humiliating them. In the end the only people punished are DT and SS.
Wow, just wow. Bureaucracy Is Magic could have been an actual episode of the show and they'd barely have to change anything.
"Welcome. You have entered the cranial vistas of psychogenesis. This is the place of no-time and no-space. Do not be afraid."
It's a YMMV entry, thus, YMMV.
