Skill is not honed in a day (or a week, or what have you), and the quality of output can fluctuate on a small time scale.

If you want results, stay with it for at least a year or more.

Yeah, taking a short break might be the wise thing to do. Sometimes it can help you get a good perspective on what you've done so far. You should still brain storm ideas and stuff, though.

With art, I sort of have the problem that something that looks good today looks kind of crappy tomorrow, especially when it comes to anatomy. Very rarely do I look at something I've done in the past and say "Huh, that still looks OK."

I used to dabble in drawing before. Sometimes I get to look through my old work. A lot of it is crap, but occasionally there's something that makes me think "that's not bad for an amateur".

When I was in the SCDF serving my NS, I made use of the photocopier there for making copies of my artwork for "inking" and colouring. Still have some of my pieces from that time, although the coloured ones are laminated.

I almost ruined my pen once by breaking the stylus tip when I was trying to replace it. I just barely got it out with some tweezers.

@Steve: Traditional Warriors used to have softer habits to complement their fighting prowess. Chinese swordsmasters and Japanese "chivalric" samurai would learn things like bonsai tree farming, poetry, painting, and such things like that in addition to their swordskills. Vikings were masters of singing (beer songs) and storytellers to boot (also Thor and Odin and Loki get up to hijinks), and chivalric knights were expected to be good at managing their lands and protecting their peasants.

Still drawing primarily traditional.
