It's probably never going to happen as I don't think the target audience would "get" that kind of meta humour.

There was a fanfic along those lines. The Mane Six are all Animated Actors reenacting the events that they actually took part in. But, at the producer's insistence, all their personalities were swapped for the sake of the show—because no audience would believe that the purple unicorn was a party animal and the pink, curly-haired earth pony was a scholar.

At the end, it turns out the producer is Discord.

If you ask me, the space whale was your magnum opus, honey.
