I doubt Luna's power wanes with the moon; Celestia has no such limitation, and even if she lost power during the night (which there is no indication of), Luna would also have that limitation.

Remember, Celestia negated Twilight's spell in Lesson Zero quite casually, even though it was night.

Her power and the celestial bodies are in no way related I'd say

It's funny that I actually want Luna to reappear now.

I can kind of imagine her just popping in unannounced for a friendly visit to twilight or something, because she doesn't quite understand the degrees of formality.

Twilight: Princess! What's the matter? Is something wrong?

Luna: Nay, Twilight Sparkle. We returned to thine village because we wish to... "Hang Out", as our sister tells us you callest it.

Doesn't she have a job or something? Celestia's been busy EVERYTIME we see her.

Well, Celestia's also been running the whole kingdom herself for the last millennium, it's not just rising/setting the sun that's keeping her busy. And it's not all that far fetched that Celestia would want to give Luna time to adjust to the new way society works before trying to share the burden's of leadership with her. So Luna probly has a lot more free time then her sister

Plus showing up to have Twilight help her learn a bit more about how to fit in with the modern world when sis is to busy with matters of state would be a perfectly good reason to have Luna showing up.

That would have been something to see. Luna vs Discord=awesome. Mainly because I can imagine Luna being the type to beat the crap out of a villain, cause she's hot blooded and Bad***. Am I the only one who was vaguely reminded of a shonen manga protagonist watching her? I mean, a lot different, but she had a good few similarities that makes me think she would be an awesome fighter. Not just in pure power (celestia would also make a fighter in that catagory) but in terms of personality as well.

I wonder what Celestia would do on a vacation. Do we know anything about her hobbies? Every time we see her its either a royal function or her teaching Twilight something. I guess she could run around playing pranks on everypony.

Oh man, now I'm imagining Celestia as sort of an incompetent prankster, but all her tricks work because everypony knows how much she enjoys it and lets her get away with them.

I'm glad Zecora showed up again, and she's been accepted so well by the Ponyville community. Maybe she'll show up with Twilight like Cheerilee.

Now that Luna's been properly introduced, she'll almost certainly show up in the finale. Or anything that takes place in Canterlot really. There were a couple places in season one where they could have had Luna present, but probably didn't because they hadn't introduced the character.

For some reason "Celestia on vacation" makes me imagine her trying to lay low and not be recognized, which is nigh impossible because she's pretty much the only giant alicorn in Equestria aside from Luna.

I could actually imagine Celestia's problem being that she doesn't know how to spend her time recreationally. She's spent over 1000 years working for two people. I highly doubt she gets more than a few hours of spare time a week

I just got this image of Celestia coming back from a vacation we never see wearing pretty much every stereotypical tourist item there is, Big hat, sunglasses, tacky shirt, bunch of maps poking out of a saddlebag, camera around her neck, etc..
