Suited for Success is simultaneously one of the best episodes so far, and one the worst episodes to show to someone new to the series.
Yeah, it's hard to convince them that this fashion show plot is actually really well done and highlights the best qualities of the person making the dresses.
I have a message from another time...
I liked it because it was about designing and creativity.
I always felt sorry for her.
The bonds of broship extend beyond gender lines!

I'd say "All denizens of the internet who enjoy Technicolor Equines, regardless of gender."
What can I say, I'm an all consuming vortex of homosexuality. -

Rarity can be a pretty big Woobie whenever her occupation actually comes into play. In addition to Suited For Success, let's not forget how, as soon as she's done explaining that her new dress was made with all the gemstones she could find, Sapphire Shores demands
five of 'em. Or how Photo Finish
completely dumps her as soon as she sees Fluttershy in action.
I have to say, though, it's kind of awesome how she's the
designer, rather than the model.
Well ain't there one damn song that can make me break down and cry?
...especially Fluttershy.
Cut her some slack, man, Rarity was bugging her for criticism.
But apart, all we are is just a pile of mush and some crumbly dry mess...
Heh, Fluttershy's really one of those
Beware the Nice Ones characters. In fact, I think "the stare" only comes out when she's stressed out by the situation or on an adrenaline rush for whatever reason.
But apart, all we are is just a pile of mush and some crumbly dry mess...
In Fluttershy's defense, she did feel really bad about having to criticize Rarity's design, and she was pretty much responsible for finishing Rarity's dress.
Yes We Did.

I find it amusing that Rarity had literally backed her into a corner before Fluttershy rips into her dress.
Because "for the lulz" is a perfectly good reason to do something.
I've personally decided that if I ever needed to pick an episode to show to someone to explain why it's not what it sounds like, I'd go with "Sonic Rainboom". It's a fun episode, includes all of the main ponies and gives each of them a moment to show who they are, and the moral at the end doesn't seem to come across quite so 'and this is what we learned today'.

And of course "yay".
"You're my favourite Princess ever!"
I remember disliking the ending/moral of "Feeling Pinkie Keen" at first, but I have since re-watched the episode without the inadvertent "religion" thing in mind. It is infinitely better.
I wonder if mentioning that Twilight's eventual conclusion was science would defuse an argument about it.
