That's why I tell people starting out to skip the theme song. Sadly, some people are not going to be able to look past the theme song, probably because the MLP theme is kind of a go-to whenever someone needs a reference to a girly, embarrassing song.

And if they are in musical theater, they should appreciate that "Art of the Dress" is based on Sondheim's "Putting it Together" from Sunday In The Park With George.

Suited for Success is simultaneously one of the best episodes so far, and one the worst episodes to show to someone new to the series.

Yeah, it's hard to convince them that this fashion show plot is actually really well done and highlights the best qualities of the person making the dresses.

I liked it because it was about designing and creativity.

Oddly, I thought it was just ok the first time around, but then I watched it again at a time when I was feeling some odd creative urges and now it's one of my favorites.

Also I want to cry when I look at it from Rarity's point of view.

Man, everyone was a gigantic bitch in that episode.

Including Fluttershy.

I keep thinking, is ''Cutie Mark Chronicles" a good introductory episode or not? On the one hoof it provides a nice character introduction for all of the Mane cast and really gives a good representation for all of Equestria. On the other hoof it's probably a late season episode for a reason as it would probably be better appreciated by a long time fan.

Also; the term Brony. I get that it's used to identify males who are outside of the target audience, but does the term apply to grown women as well? What about the little girls who the show actualy IS aimed at? Do we still call them Bronies?

Rarity can be a pretty big Woobie whenever her occupation actually comes into play. In addition to Suited For Success, let's not forget how, as soon as she's done explaining that her new dress was made with all the gemstones she could find, Sapphire Shores demands five of 'em. Or how Photo Finish completely dumps her as soon as she sees Fluttershy in action.

I have to say, though, it's kind of awesome how she's the designer, rather than the model.

Cut her some slack, man, Rarity was bugging her for criticism.
But apart, all we are is just a pile of mush and some crumbly dry mess...

I know that Rarity was literally begging for it, but damn, she really ripped into her!

Heh. Can't really stay mad at Fluttershy, though...

Heh, Fluttershy's really one of those Beware the Nice Ones characters. In fact, I think "the stare" only comes out when she's stressed out by the situation or on an adrenaline rush for whatever reason.

In Fluttershy's defense, she did feel really bad about having to criticize Rarity's design, and she was pretty much responsible for finishing Rarity's dress.

I find it amusing that Rarity had literally backed her into a corner before Fluttershy rips into her dress.
Because "for the lulz" is a perfectly good reason to do something.

I always thought it was weird that Fluttershy is apparently an expert on French design and her dress still ended up looking horrible.

And Cutie Mark Chronicles is one of my favorite episodes, but it probably has a bigger impact if you get to know the characters before seeing them as fillies.

I've personally decided that if I ever needed to pick an episode to show to someone to explain why it's not what it sounds like, I'd go with "Sonic Rainboom". It's a fun episode, includes all of the main ponies and gives each of them a moment to show who they are, and the moral at the end doesn't seem to come across quite so 'and this is what we learned today'.

I find it funny that the episode that gets people so riled up is the episode that has more in common with Looney Tunes than anything else.

I mean, forget rule 34 and shock sites, if you want to raid Ponychan and not just be mocked back, just make a bunch of "Feeling Pinkie Keen" debate threads.

I remember disliking the ending/moral of "Feeling Pinkie Keen" at first, but I have since re-watched the episode without the inadvertent "religion" thing in mind. It is infinitely better.

There was a rather ugly argument about that episode on Ponychan - someone randomly brought it up in a thread complaining about "A Dog and Pony Show."

It's quite annoying when it keeps coming up, particularly when Faust has pretty flatly stated that no, it isn't about religion.

I still need to re-watch it, but I can't because every time I try, I think "oh, boy, this thing that got so much flak" in the back of my mind.

I wonder if mentioning that Twilight's eventual conclusion was science would defuse an argument about it.
