Ah... well for my own part I do tend to 'check in', yeah. But I mean like, I'm not aware of it slipping away in real time, I just realize I'm now a bit drunker than I was before.

Hey apple, here's a belated christmas gift I found for ya!

[up]well, it's kinda like that for me, I guess, except I'm habitually checking on just how drunk I am like once a minute.

I kind of imagine drunk Twilight would be something like drunk Yuno.

Do we have a nosebleed macro? 'cause I think I need one after Blissey's post.

Since I didn't see anybody venture an answer to this question...

321766 d Roy, Tue, 25th Dec '12 8:45:35 PM In a random note, where did this "Celestia has a big flank" bit came from?

I don't know if John Joseco originated this, but his Molestia askblog definitely did a lot to popularize it.

Speaking as someone who used to get nosebleeds all the time, I think the anime thing is really stupid. Actually it's really stupid anyway.

By the way, does anyone else ever feel themselves slipping away when falling asleep?

Nope. For me, it's like closing my eyes for a second, and suddenly a couple of hours have gone by.

I also don't get the appeal of being drunk. But I hate feeling out of control and I only drink water and tea anyway.

What did Lauren say about ponies and drinking again?

Also...this might blow up in my face but, when my crew eventually meets the mane six, I was tempted to have Fluttershy and Aerobat get along nicely. We know how easily frightened she is...and Aerobat is quite scary looking (it's not just the bat wings, luminous cat-like eyes and fangs...it's also the fact that he's a big and has a very commanding voice)...but would it make sense for Flutters to not be put off by his appearance? She is the element of Kindness...loves animals of all sorts...how might I do this right?

Blame Librarian....he put this idea in my head. wink

I believe she said being drunk is looked down upon in Equestria... which means it's obviously possible.

Nope. For me, it's like closing my eyes for a second, and suddenly a couple of hours have gone by.

Well the thing is that as soon as you fall asleep, you immediately forget everything that happened before falling asleep. So you can only really remember it while you're falling asleep. But if you notice it at the time you're more likely to remember it later because it's something specific you noticed rather than just an ordinary feeling.

yeah, I have noticed I tend to get this light... sort of 'sparkly' feeling before I fall asleep. Like my head's been hollowed out, but the edges of my mind are still there, and the inside is sort of like a snowglobe... Obviously I'm not thinking hugely lucidly in these moments.

@Applelight: I can see it. After all, I ship Fluttershy/Spike.

Which reminds me. Favourite straight ship: I like the canon ones a lot (Rarity/Spike is [[TOTALLY CANON) but after that, Big Mac/Twilight.

Well the feeling I notice is when your train of thought starts randomly jumping to disconnected topics constantly. If you're sleepy enough, it will keep happening no matter how hard you try to just thinking about one thing, but you are still aware enough to notice the effect.

According to the creators commentaries, that ship apparently makes more sense than Spike/Rarity.

And, here's the deal. Batty, despite the combat training, intimidating appearance etc, is actually very adorkable. He too apologizes a lot, although in a stoical sort of way, and also asks permission from the Captain to do practically ''everything!...while saluting. That's a tick of his...he's always saluting and bowing and treating everything as a 'military operation'.

And I'm also tempted to make him good with animals...because it validates his name and I can see a young Batty befriending animals because his peers rejected him over his appearance. Yes, I'm trying to make a pony Tim Burton character here.

So...anyone think it could work?

I think I should know my mindset falling alseep, given the hours upon hours lying awake in bed being unable to fall asleep that I've been doing since forever.

Sometimes to the point where I'd rather intentionally stay up until I'm drop-dead exhausted (usually midnight or later) before deciding to crash onto the bed.

[up] What, like... "sir, permission to sit down, sir"?

Yes.

Or...after he hears a heartbreaking story:

Batty: (stoically with a stern expression)...permission for lip to wobble sir.

Captain: Granted.

Batty: (still stoically with a stern expression) Thank you sir. Starts to tear up and wobbles lip similar to what Pinkie is doing here.

Heh, that's cute. waii

Just... be careful not to overdo it. It seems like the kind of gag that could get old very quickly.

Oh, by the way, re: Fluttershy? I could see her being the quickest to accept him in the end, but there has to be some outside influence, some impetus, something. I don't imagine her being the type to go up to a stranger just because.

You'd think that after a while the captain would just get fed up and tell him he always has permission. But maybe Batty doesn't care.

Well, this is how he is when they first meet him. As time goes on, he gets more 'relaxed'. Think of Sgt Nicolas Angel...and that moment when he blows a raspberry at Timothy Dalton's character whilst flipping him the bird and telling him to jog on. [lol] Batty too will have a key moment like that at some stage. wink

Also, my plan was for the mane six and the crew to have to team up to combat a severe threat to Equestria, so they do have a good reason to be together.

Oh...well, never mind.

What about 'the Colonel' from Monty Pyton? You know that sort of overly serious and uptight Brit archetype? That's Batty...most of the time.
