I've seen several works that run on Schizo Tech. This trope in MLP:FIM, though, is almost a Mind Screw to me.

Tech seems to vary between 1950's for entertainment and mid-late 1800's for industry. They've invented the factory system (see Cloudsdale), but the sheer lack of scarcity in Equestria basically put the Industrial Revolution on indefinite hiatus.

Sigh. There is no such thing as a "level" of technology. Different things were invented in different orders and rates even among real life human cultures. The idea that the technology tree of a species with different anatomy and magic should resemble ours is ridiculous.

I tend to assume vaguely 1900-ish tech level as a base, but like Sereg said, due to cultural differences and differences in species ability, certain tech progressed at different rates. Hence why they have stuff like arcade cabinets and movies, but not guns or cars.

No, AJ is much stronger than RD. I guess RD can hit harder if she gets enough speed, but she can't lift as much or exert as much constant force.

Applelight, you don't know it yet but you just started another Fall Weather Friends debate.

Anyway I'd put Dash and Applejack as relatively equal but with strengths in different places. In terms of pure brute strength they're probably about the same. Dash is much faster, Applejack is more reliable and graceful. Dash crashes all the time and would probably miss a lot and leave herself open to attack in the event of a fight. AJ would be a lot more accurate, less prone to screw ups in general, and better at defending herself.
