Evidently the elements do, since they are the ones who did the banishing.

Perhaps it was because the Moon is, after all, the place over which Luna has the most power: when the Elements attempted to purify her, her essence fled to the one place in which even them had not the power to affect her, and therefore they could only bind her to it.

The second time the Elements attacked her, Luna had recently escaped the Moon, with the help of the stars. She had no such connection to it, and she could not return to it in time to shield herself from the Elements (or perhaps she did not even attempt)...

While I have a lot of Twilightness, I have more Fluttershyness.

EDIT: Anyway, I think that Luna was stuck in misty form up there. Couldn't use her body because of the whole, needing stuff to stay alive thing.

I'm definitely more like Twilight. I have this avatar for a reason.

Also, I have my own theory

about why Celestia would have banished her sister specifically to the moon. Yes, it's in fanfic form, but it's short and I doubt I'd be able to explain the whole thing in fewer words anyway.

I wonder if will ever get an answer to how the stars actually figured into her escape. If they really did at all and it wasn't just some poetic part of the prophecy.

"Meum parvum equum amo" means "I love my little pony*" and "Mea maxima culpa mi amici" means "My most grievous fault, my dear friends." More idiomatically, it means, "Sorry, guys."

In my headcanon, the stars (well, those four specific stars, the rest are ordinary stars) are ponies who were put up there at the same time as Nightmare Moon. And were the other four weiders of the elements that took out Discord.

But why were they still alive?

They weren't. Nightmare Moon raised them as undead.

Assuming that this doesn't get jossed (unlikely, I know) it will be dealt with in a fic in my series, currently titled A Debt to the Stars. But I want to do my one about Star Swirl CXLVII vs King Zebra (yes, the one from the parody comic) in Zebrica first.

I am not terribly similar to any of the Mane 6, I think.

If I remember correctly, that test that I saw some time ago said that I was very similar to Applejack and Twilight, so-so to Rarity, and pretty much completely different from Pinkie Pie or Fluttershy; and it is true that of the Mane 6, Applejack and Twilight are probably the ones I relate to the most. But I am nowhere as hard-working as Applejack, or as organized as Twilight.
