Yeah, Blueblood is basically a douchebag from the moment he first appears onscreen and doesn't really have any redeeming qualities. He's very much a Love to Hate kind of character.

@Kimba, why wouldn't someone dislike Blueblood? He'sa jerk. Not even Rarity deserved to be treated like that and I think Rarity deserves to be treated in many negative and karmic ways.

It's because everyone sees him as a jerkass, when really he's more like a Spoiled Brat and a Prince Charmless. If that's the reaction because he make Rarity his shield for a cake, than I can't imagine how the reaction would be if someone gave Non Holds-Barred Beatdown to her.

Those tropes aren't mutually exclusive. He be Prince Charmless, a Spoiled Brat, and a Jerkass. The short of it is that he spends like 95% of his screentime being a dick, and none of it doing anything positive.

In brief I like him in part because he's so entertaining and in part that everyone demonises him while ignoring the fact that Rarity was just as much in the wrong.

RARITY CAN DO NO WRONG!

But he's not a jerkass. He didn't do what he did because he wanted to treat her as dirt, but because he used to see mares do everything for him.

Well, she was rightly pissed because of him, who would'nt be?

That's in headcanon territory. If we're wielding headcanons, then Blueblood knew Rarity was only interested in him for his title and intentionally acted like that to drive off the gold digger.

Mmh, interesting ipothesis, but I think I remember that she was interested in him because of how handsome he was

The thing she focuses on in Ticketmaster is that he's a prince and she'd get to become a princess. So I think that's her goal.

AJ was totally dodging her friends, they had no choice but to act the way they did. Plus the whole thing stemmed from Adult Fear. It's not Epic like The Discord chapter or the reading episode, it's not insightful like "Hurricane Fluttershy" or "Party of One" or "Lesson Zero", maybe it is safe. But it's still decent enough.

Now in "Mare Do Well" they could've tried to reason with RD, and they could've not been so hypocritical about the whole humility thing by touting the others works as Mare Do Well

And Dragon Quest still has to win hands down for being the worst episode, since it wasn't dead on water like "Mare" and showed Tolkien-esque levels of Fantastic Racism

Eh, I liked Dragon Quest personally.

Dragon Quest was fine.

I'd say the worst episode is Boast Busters, mainly because I simply did not find it entertaining.

Wait...you didn't find Trixie entertaining?

Not particularly.

Though maybe I need to re-watch it. It's possible I simply got annoyed at all the stuff around the episode along the lines of "Trixie didn't do anything wrong! The mane cast were at fault!" and I just sort of wanted to distance myself from everything associated.

@telwyt Yes, they had a choice. They could continue to talk her out, only doing it in a better occasion (during work wasn't), perhaps by making her remember of her family and tell her how much they were suffering because she wasn't home. But nope, they decided to torture her with the chimey-cherry-chonga thing to make her talk (granted that didn't work, bt still....). That's the worst thing an actual friend can do to the other.

And don't let me start with Pinkie and Rarity left in the freakin' desert. Just.... ARGH!!

(on a positive note, I really like the moral of the episode, and the first part was cool as a all).

Yeah, I got annoyed with that too. Dudes, she acted like a jerkass (and unlike Blueblood, that was intended), the mane six were just giving their own opinion!

@Badwolf: Even if Rarity was being a golddigger, at least she had a basic level of civility and etiquette. I can't say she's totally blameless in that scenario, but Blueblood was way worse than she was.

Trixie is actually kind of the same way, I do think the mane cast was a bit at fault heckling her (even if she did totally suck, it's still not polite to do that), but Trixie didn't exactly do herself any favors.

That bugged me about that episode, too. I think they needed another scene in there where they tried and failed to reason with her before resorting to bringing out the big guns.

Wow, Polish Fluttershy has a gorgeous voice.

Trixie pretty much goaded them.

I can get the "heckling a performer is profoundly rude" thing, but I'm a performer, and if I did what Trixie did you'd be perfectly justified in telling me to shut up and get a real job.
