Mostly the main complaint is that it was cuteness for the sake of cuteness and the plot was too low-key for some people to enjoy without being amusing like Azumanga Daioh or Hidamari Sketch (And Hidasketch also had widefaces and interesting artistic juxtapositions and symbolism).
