It was an interesting read for sure. My only thing is that Star Swirl the 147th is a mite too... focused... on names and nomenclature.
She's an obsessive pony. And it's a symptom and metaphor of how she's dealt with her past. It's possible you'll enjoy the sequels more. She's matured a bit in them. And she's just a secondary character in the first.

Huh, the last page of recipes from The Hub's website includes artwork of the Cutie Mark Crusaders all grown up with cutie marks, drawn by layout artist Kat Stenson before becoming part of the show's crew. What I like about this is that even if it isn't canon, it being used at least makes it official, so if the G4 series does end before the CMC get their marks, there'll still be this to fall back on!
