Not really; given how...quirky pretty much every pony we've met so far is, she probably just comes across as a Manic Pixie Dream Girl at worst.

I read a fic at some point that 
that Pinkie is a genetic anomaly: she's really a unicorn with no horn. She generates magic, but with no horn to use it actively, it manifests in its own way. In other words, Pinkie Sense and all her other odd abilities.

Petriculture had an interesting theory about Pinkie's true nature. MAJOR SPOILERS: Pinkie Pie was actually Twilight's imaginary friend from childhood, spontaneously brought into real existence by the surge of magic from the sonic rainboom.
That would be running a punchline into the ground.

Pegasi can do anything that Earth Ponies can do. However, Pegasi have wings, and can fly. Unicorns can do anything that Pegasi can do, but, in addition to magic-enabled flight, Unicorns have other magic.
People say that Earth Ponies are useless (which is mostly true), but at least Earth Ponies can do agriculture. Pegasi only have weather powers, and the flight required for weather powers can be duplicated by Unicorns.
Truly, it is Pegasi who are useless.
