Story: I'd say they get both. Because, seriously, becoming someone's love slave and not remembering much (if anything...) when the spell is broken makes for some severe creepiness. That it can happen without warning is where the paranoia fuel comes in.

Story: But from what Cadance said of changelings, she seems to be under the general assumption that all of them will impersonate someone's loved one and feed off of them. I don't really have a reason to believe she's lying or misinformed, so my guess would just be that Chrysalis can just do it more easily because she's more powerful.

Baby Cakes is much more of an Adult Fear deal. I've done quite a bit of babysitting over the years, and having one of the children you're looking after vanish when you're not looking is terrifying.

Perpetual Pretty much hit the nail on the head with why Baby Cakes freaked me out. Stuff like the changelings or Discord creepy in theory, but I don't really worry much about it actually happening. But taking care of a kid and then losing track of them is something that can actually happen really easily.
