Why Earth Pony flesh specifically? Unicorns and Pegasi not good enough?

Looking at it again, I really like Pinkie's flying contraption, but it wouldn't work even in a fictional sense. I mean it's flat like a bike so there's nothing holding it up, it would make more sense for it to have two rails like a sledge.

furthermore there's nothing that makes the connection between the pedals and the chopper.

How does it steer, and what's the flower for?

@Mousa: Probably because magic and flight makes unicorns and pegasi harder to catch. Then again, an EP probably has a way harder kick, so they probably aren't easy prey either.

Discussing the tastiness of rabbits made me think of Diana the Tsun Dere dog, since she did eat baby bunnies right out of the hole once, so she might know what they taste like. Come to think of it, Fluttershy doesn't mind feeding fish to ferrets. But how would she handle a dog or other predatory animal trying to eat Angel bunny or another rabbit she was taking care of? Does Winona ever try to chase Angel, even out of pure herding instinct?

Earth ponies can't fight back against danger without unicorns or pegasi there to protect them. Why do you think they were the peasants before the uniting of the tribes? All they bring to the table is food.

Granted, the food is kinda important. Also, we have no real idea of the economic comparisons between the tribes; we really only see the leaders at any real length.

From what we've seen in the show, the average unicorn would probably be worse off in a combat situation than the average earth pony, IMO. The baseline for unicorn magic seems to be rather low, especially if stuff like Trixie doing rope tricks is considered impressive.
