Apparently 26 episode seasons ran the animators ragged, too. They're obviously continuing to push the animation quality if the previews we've gotten are any indication, so it's entirely understandable to not want to have your team keel over dead. Besides, 13 episode seasons are just as common as longer seasons nowadays, if not more so.

There will be more seasons, so that doesn't matter at all.

Yes, there will be only half as many episodes, because 52 + 13 = 65, and the whole SixtyFiveEpisodeCartoon.

There won't be a fourth season.

We'll get 65 episodes, and we'll hold our heads high. We'll stay friends, and talk, and draw, and remember.

We got 65 great episodes, and that's more than many people get.

@ATC They've hinted as directly as they could that we'll be getting more seasons. You don't shut down a show that breaks ratings records for your channel.

Welcome to the majority of television. We were lucky to get the larger seasons that we did get, honestly. If the show had started with 13 episodes per season like most shows, this wouldn't be a big deal.

Yeah, it's been very heavily implied that they've been working on more stuff beyond just season 3. Not confirmed, but it's extremely likely.

Personally, I'm just going to watch the season, and then see what happens. No point in worrying about it. If we don't get more, we don't get more and just enjoy what we do have rather than complaining about it. I mean, it's pretty easy: Watching/discussing episodes = fun; complaining that we don't have episodes =/= fun.
